Before I went on maternity leave, for two months you might have often heard me say, “I am so overwhelmed.” And I truly felt that way. I thought that I was running from place to place, doing thing after thing, for person after person. While on maternity leave I had the opportunity to really slow down. One of the things that I did (that I still do very little of) was watch television.
One of my favorite shows recently has become Blood, Sweat and Heels. And it's not for the drama! Yes drama makes me laugh, and it’s absolutely entertaining, but the real reason I love the show is the strong women who are living out their dreams.
These women are smart, they're confident, they’re secure about themselves, they're beautiful in so many different ways, and they're really an inspiration (I think to women everywhere). My least favorite women on the show quickly escalated to my favorite. And in some ways she even reminds me of myself.
She recently had a conversation with her mentor on the show and one of the things that she was talking about was feeling over whelmed. And this is what she learned and that plays over and over in my mind – from now on instead of walking around saying I'm so overwhelmed I will walk around and say my cup runneth over. Think about it - when you reverse your psychology, doesn't it make you feel so much better even just to say that out loud? My cup runneth over. And mine truly does.
